MARGARET THOMPSON - VOLUNTEER

Margaret is married and lives in Glespin having moved from Glasgow 15 years ago. Before having her 9 children she trained as a personal secretary and chiropodist. When she moved to the area she helped set up a mother & toddler group which led to her becoming involved in a steering group to set up the new Rigside & Rural Community Nursery. She became involved in many local groups and is presently involved with Glespin Hall Committee, School Board, Youth Club, Dance Group, Storytelling Group, Glespin Community Liaison Group, Health Council, National Childbirth Trust, Lanarkshire Breastfeeding Initiative and Breast Cancer Support Groups.

She is interested in all aspects of rural living and trying to raise the awareness of the issues such as transport, lack of facilities, education and health. She works voluntarily with South Lanarkshire Council, NHS and local Councillors with the aim of trying to improve things.
